Test your limits with this unsupported bikepacking ultra that winds some 999 kilometers around the Westfjords through fjordscapes and over 12,000 meters of climbing mountain passes. No outside help or drafting is allowed, you must be fully self-supported. Grand depart 7am on July 27th from Ísafjörður with the finisher’s party at 7pm on July 30 in Ísafjörður. There is no cut-off time for the race. The only prize is the accomplishment of finishing.

Rider Responsibility

All racers should be aware of the remote nature of the race and be confident in their own abilities as well as understand their responsibilities. There are no aid stations, no support vehicles, and riders will not be assisted by Cycling Westfjords. In the event that a rider chooses not to continue on, arranging transport will be their responsibility. The Westfjords Way open route follows the Westfjords Way with a few additional fjords and gravel.

Riders acknowledge they are riding on open roads and must know and observe all local traffic laws. Ultimately, it’s up to each individual to complete the route to the best of their ability while respecting the rules of the event.

  • I am aware of the remote nature of the race and am confident in my ability to ride the route in the timeframe set by the race.
  • I acknowledge I will be riding on open roads and am responsible for knowing and observing all local traffic laws.
  • I understand I am responsible for my own research of the route and local conditions so I can be best prepared to complete the race safely.
  • I understand the self-supported nature of the race, and that Cycling Westfjords will not provide support in the event of ride-ending mechanicals, weather, or any unforeseen circumstances. 
  • I understand that drafting is not allowed and any drafting will result in disqualification.
