We know this place and the people that make it special, and we work to connect towns and strengthen our communities through bicycle tourism. We organize races, self-guided and guided tours to match any level of adventure, because we believe everyone should have the opportunity to experience the Westfjords by bike.
When we’re not guiding tours, fixing bikes or advising you on your route, we’re out riding the same roads and chatting with local business owners about the future of bike tourism in the Westfjords. That’s why when you’re here on your bike tour, you know you’re in good hands should anything go wrong.
Halldóra (Dóra) is born and raised in Ísafjörður and is the brains of the Cycling Westfjords operation. When she isn’t biking, she works at her knitting and clothing store Klæðakot in downtown Ísafjörður. In 2020, she graduated from Hólar University where she wrote a bachelor’s thesis on the experience of bicycle tourists in the Westfjords which paved her way into starting Cycling Westfjords.
Smári is an artist and fearless bicyclist. He is best known for creating art out of his bike adventures with his Hjólabókin (bicycle book) project which has 8 books of bicycle routes throughout Iceland. If you’ve been to the Westfjords, you’ve most likely seen his maps of the region and villages.
Nanný is an Ísafjörður native and entrepreneur. In 2013, she started the popular tourism company Borea Adventures Iceland which provides bike rentals and tours in the #Westfjords as well as expeditions to Hornstrandir Nature Reserve. She has also worked extensively in politics and has been a town representative for Ísafjörður.
Tyler first came to the Westfjords as a student at the University Centre of the Westfjords after spending 8 months biking across the United States. In the summer of 2021, he became the first known person to bike #TheWestfjordsWay. When he isn’t pedaling bikes, he is working on them at his small shop in Ísafjörður which focuses on keeping the community and tourists on well-maintained bikes.
Lynnee moved to the Westfjords in 2021 after living all around the West Cost of the United States. As a freelance digital communications specialist, she brings her creative vision to Cycling Westfjords through content creation and planning for the Arna Westfjords Way Challenge. When she isn’t riding bikes, you can find her studying at the University Centre of the Westfjords, or off in the mountains on her next adventure.
