We’ll take you to all of our favorite spots in and around Ísafjörður, including our favorite campground on a secluded and remote beach where we will roast s’mores over a bonfire and party under the midnight sun. Join as a shakeout ride for your Westfjords Way tour or as a one-of-a-kind bikepacking adventure! The total route is 60 kilometers with 1,500 meters of climbing. 40% unpaved.

Join the Cycling Westfjords team (Dóra, Tyler, Lynnee and Kristinn)  to kick off the bikepacking season! We’ll take you to all of our favorite spots in and around Ísafjörður, including our favorite campground on a secluded and remote beach where we will roast s’mores over a bonfire and party under the midnight sun. This casual trip is a great option for anyone who wants a truly Westfjordian experience – we will eat the best food and take you on a cultural experience in Ísafjörður and the surrounding area.   • Meals outside of included meals and alcoholic beverages

    Additional Information

    This trip is perfect for anyone who:

    • Wants to ride with locals and see the best of Ísafjörður and the surrounding area

    What you will need:

    • Gravel bike: recommend at least 40 mm tires (rentals available)
    • Bikepacking bags to carry your equipment + emergency bivvy (we can offer advice on bags and setup prior to your trip. Limited rentals may also be available)
    • Biking gear from wool base layers to shoe covers. A recommended gear and clothing list will be emailed to registered participants
    • Trip insurance that covers cycling if traveling from abroad

    Meet Your Guides

    Halldóra Björk Norðdahl 

    Halldóra (Dóra) is born and raised in Ísafjörður and is the brains of the Cycling Westfjords operation. When she isn’t biking, she works at her knitting and clothing store Klæðakot in downtown Ísafjörður. In 2020, she graduated from Hólar University where she wrote a bachelor’s thesis on the experience of bicycle tourists in the Westfjords which paved her way into starting Cycling Westfjords.

     

    Tyler Wacker

    Tyler has called the Westfjords home since 2020 after spending eight months biking across the US to reconnect with what’s important to him. He holds a master’s degree in Coastal Communities and Regional Development, and his passion is to engage with the broader issues of place through biking. As part of @cyclingwestfjords, he is a co-race director of the Arna Westfjords Way Challenge. Follow along @_tylervision.

    Lynnee Jacks

    Lynnee moved to the Westfjords in 2021 after living all around the West Cost of the United States. When she isn’t riding bikes, you can find her studying at the University Centre of the Westfjords, or off in the mountains on her next adventure. Follow along @currectlysomewhere
